Q: "Why The Box? You're a fashion designer?"...

A:

I created "The Box"  because I realized that by labeling myself solely as a fashion designer  I was marginalizing my innovative side. I didn't want to place any limitations on  my creativity and have come to realize that I am not just a designer but also a creator. I felt that launching a clothing collection first was too predictable and people would establish me as a “Fashion Designer”, but I'm constantly wanting to reinvent or redefine a product far past the limitations of clothing. Through this adventure with "The Box", I have learned that I see myself more as an inventor-- A Modern day inventor creating things I wish existed . That is how I saw myself growing up and that is how I will always define myself.

About the box...

I wanted to test the boundaries by reinventing a unique way to carry objects. This day in age, it's really difficult to find a product that can cater to multiple needs. The compatibility of objects just seem to have vanished. We need to have one case for our phone, one for our laptop and one for our Ipad, right!? And the terrible thing is, that if I buy a bag for just those things, their full potential is only for those certain items.

Now, the box is a one stop shop!

The vast inner cavity is made to fit a laptop, books, wine bottles etc while maintaining its originality and flaunting an irresistibly modern aesthetic.  A clean and chic feel that isn't too overwhelming with maximum functionality.

But the journey doesn't stop there...

This venture has continued to grow and has always been pure fun due to my explorations and passion for innovation. I've unexpectedly taken a tunnel into the architectural world, viewing everything with my fashion lens, and in result have created a fashion-architecture hybrid. One that at plain sight is slightly hard to digest, due to the fact that people are simply not familiar with anything of this nature. The feedback that I've received has really helped me understand it's architectural component and has also given me insight on niches to break into.

I'll leave with this...

The launch of this product, the first under Vintage Artisan (VA), is for consumers to understand and become acquainted with the brand. I believe in long lasting products no matter what its use. My vision is for VA to be seen as true art-- true art is an investment as it is timeless, and I try my best to induce as much life into my products. When you shop VA know that you're getting something of true quality  and that true craftsmanship went into building, weaving or stitching the product.
